Epitome – A New Code? No, Simply A Re-Commitment.

Expecting to change lanes on a freeway when we’re at a vastly different speed to the resident traffic is not only ambitious, but dangerous. So it is when you ‘wake slowly’ to the onslaught of worldly living -- waking slowly is an anachronism of spiritual alignment. I have often been amazed how unspiritual people can be and it seemingly not even bother them. Like, it’s as if they don’t need it. Some, no... most people survive quite well without needing spiritualism in their lives. I am not one of these people.
s
Beaten down in despair is often the way I feel when I’m running rough, spiritually... emotionally. An at-times biographical proverb is, “Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.”[1] What brings hope is it’s often the antecedent of a bigger, better palace is a crumbling former dwelling -- re-construction can begin immediately. Each day is new and brings with it new opportunities. Will the present opportunity be grasped? Spiritual sabotage cannot be allowed to continue unchecked. The building must be repaired, renovated, restored.

Simplification, silence, and stealth. Ah, words that lead to life! A few more: don’t sweat the small stuff; Fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; Ego Eimi Kosmikon Monou; Simplify-Focus-Overcome; No Indecision – No Compromise – No Complaint; Total Relational Resilience OMAAT; Hypernikomen; Diligence, prudence, shalom, balance, trust, respect, and wisdom.
s
How does life get so hard? It comes from merely a few days of not attending to vital life disciplines; and one again feels a slave to them. It’s true. It’s the only way I can now live. There’s no middle ground. It’s the high and heavenly road or the ‘other’ one straight to mental Sheol.
s
The great hope is this. That diligence will again drive the machine -- that discipline will again
have its day -- that one day at a time I will again claw my way back. Numbering the days of my life has survival significance for me. The formula is very simple; and I must stick to it.
s
And I share this with you, unsuspecting world, in the hope that it might too encourage you. For whom of us really has it all together?
s
Enter tomorrow... fresh hope... in whom? Jesus, be my Saviour once again (and always). AMEN.
