Jesus’ Prayer for Us

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.”
~John 17:20, 21a (NIV).
Jesus praying for us—we like that as it sounds, don’t we?
But it’s the very sense that Jesus raises here above that calls most centrally to our hearts: that we might—like Jesus—be in the Father and the Father in us.
Imagine that moment—perhaps as it was—when God flushes through us, in love, the Presence of the Spirit such that we’re overwhelmed in gorgeous awe. Call it baptism in the Holy Spirit if you will; it’s the most cherished of all blessings.
And, in this, we ‘get’ God... finally that mystery of the Being from eternity is made most fully known to us—the search is over... and, still, ironically, it issues another search—a lifelong one at that.
Life in the Spirit has begun; a reality re-born each day hence, if we will give God stead over our lives.
